Install on Slack

Requirements

  • A GitHub org where you have admin permission (one-time install)
  • A Slack workspace where you have admin or app-install permission
  • A GitHub account for each team member who will use Pronto

Step 1: Install the GitHub App

Start at pronto.dev/install. Your GitHub org admin installs the Pronto GitHub App once — all repos in the org are covered, no per-repo setup.

Pronto requests read-only access to PR metadata (title, status, author) and webhooks for PR events. It has no access to code, file contents, or write permissions.

Step 2: Add Pronto to Slack

After the GitHub install completes, you'll be prompted to authorize Pronto for your Slack workspace. Approve the permission scopes — Pronto needs to post updates in channels and send direct messages.

Once installed, Pronto appears in your workspace's Apps section and in the App Home tab.

Step 3: Connect your GitHub account

Pronto sends each workspace member a DM with a link to connect their personal GitHub account. Each person connects individually — Pronto doesn't share a single org-level token.

If someone missed the DM:

  1. Open the Pronto App Home in Slack
  2. Click "Connect GitHub" in the banner at the top

Step 4: Verify it's working

Open the Pronto App Home. You should see a dashboard showing your open PRs and any reviews waiting on you. If it's empty and you have open PRs on GitHub, see Troubleshooting.
